Shelley Schenker

Shelley Schenker is an Artist and former owner of an environmentally informed artists gallery (Eco Depot Marketplace) in Asheville, North Carolina. Her works, called “Magazine Mosaics”, capture the colorful and whimsical side of birds and beasts, and are made entirely of hand-torn bits of magazines. Shelley has been

making Magazine Mosaics for more than fifteen years and has shared her technique in workshops for artistic folks of every age. Since moving to Palatka, she has been involved in the group called Gathering Artists of Putnam, getting the artwork of 30+ member artists on display in various venues.

Last year, Shelley started the Arts Alliance of Putnam, a 501c3 non-profit with the mission of promoting and encouraging the entire creative sector of Putnam county. HeARTwood Acres is the brainchild of Shelley Schenker and her friend, and fellow artist Pamela Holthouser, who both moved to the area from Asheville, NC. The 8-acre slice of swamp on the shores of the St. Johns River is home to their houses, workshops and Tiny Gallery with a canopy of oaks, pines and cabbage palms serving as a backdrop for their whims.
